Does anyone know how to do it? I tired googling and looking it up on Microsoft's site with no success.

Why do you need to remove it? If you have another player you prefer, you can tell Windows to use that one instead.

You need to uninstall Windows Media Player first.  You can try the following instruction below.  Please note that I am not responsible if your computer crashes.

Click the START button and select Run.
Type in: regedit in the command box.
When the regedit window appears, expand the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE by clicking on the plus sign to its right.
Now Click on the plus next to SOFTWARE, then MICROSOFT, then WINDOWS, then CURRENT VERSION and finally UNINSTALL
When you expand the Uninstall folder, you'll see all the programs currently installed, such as the uninstall Media Player 10 or Media Player, etc.
Click on the folder you want to uninstall, in the box on the right you will see two strings:
DisplayName and UninstallString.
Double click UninstallString and a box will appear with the uninstall string highlighted.
Right click on the highlighted entry and select COPY.
Close the Regedit window.
Select the START button and click RUN.
Right click inside the command box and paste the uninstall string and click OK to uninstall Media Player.

Please repeat with me:  "Levi is not responsible if your computer crashes. "

Goodluck.

Thanks Levi. I think I am going to take the easy way out and just do a system restore to an earlier point.

Ethan, Media Player is my preferred player. It's just that I installed a plug in which now prevents me from using Media Player in skin mode and best I could tell there is no way to remove the plugin.

What amazes me is that Microsoft continues to put out such junk but no one is able to knock thme off the top of the hill.

You can also simply open the media player and right click on the Windows Media Player icon in the upper left corner, scroll down to Tools, select options , and in the window that pops up select the PlugIns tab, from the list of plug ins there is the option for removal.
I am using version 11, but it should be the same for the earlier 10 version.
Safer than messing with the registry.
